On that note, he took an opportunity to speak about his students from the west,

He started off by saying that it’s a very touching moment for him as it’s after many years that he is in India on Guru Purnima. So, he went to his Guru’s place and took his blessings by touching his chair, where he usually is to sit.

Talking about the difference ‘Sadhana’ and ‘Riaaz’ he said that Riaaz is the first step to achieve Sadhana. Riaaz can’t be done, it happens when you are passionate and you spiritually connect with your music. God is the potential energy and our Guru is the Kinetic energy he teaches us how to convert and connect the energy through Sadhana.

Talking the audiences back to his childhood he told how his dad used to teach him Abhang. “Every Saturday when my father used to come from an office he used to teach me Abhang. And insisted me to recite it on the next day. If at all I forgot to any aAavas, I used to give it my own touch. I think this habit and every week’s event helped by a lot in my later life.”

As we all know that Mahesh Kale has a lot of young fan following, his social media handles mostly have young subscribers. He also talked about how has it changed. He said that classical music has a very objective point of view. In people’s perspective, it is something done in your 60’s. All constrain our kids in the daily chores and they miss out on the late night theatre shows. “For that matter, Katyar Kaljat Ghusli being a film has helped to reach out to the young audiences. It has also helped in changes a lot of perspectives.”

He also showed a different point of view on reality shows. In his opinion instead of prize money of an expensive entity, the winner should be graced with an opportunity to learn music as a guru. So that the person’s skill is enhanced. “One of the advantages of reality shows is the exposure. But the disadvantage is that sometimes people cannot handle the kind of success it provides you and somewhere the education and passion for music are neglected. Let the competition and reality shows be a milestone and no the destination.”

In a short interactive session when he was asked about his identity as a USP by which he stands out he said,

“I surrender myself to the people and let the audiences decide my identity. Because that identity won’t carry my ego but the love of my audiences.”

With thank you he ended with a Bandish which Kale dedicated to his guru.
