UP Police, Home Credit launch cyber-crime awareness drive

Ghaziabad, July 6 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh Police and consumer durable loan provider Home Credit India jointly launched a cyber-crime awareness drive here on Saturday.
Home Credit will provide the police with the latest trends in cyber-crimes and the skills needed to tackle cyber-frauds, especially in the finance industry.
A similar initiative was earlier launched in Gurugram, Ambala, Mehsana, Bhopal, Visakhapatnam, Kota, Faridabad, Chandigarh, Bundi and Vadodara.
Home Credit official Manish Kaushik said: “We are proud to associate ourselves with Ghaziabad Police to increase awareness about cyber-frauds and cyber-crimes. As a responsible lender, we wish to share our knowledge and understanding with the police and law enforcement agencies on the latest trends.”
Senior Superitendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Singh said: “Cyber-stalking, cyber-bullying, web jacking, theft of online data and virus dissemination are serious crimes. They pose a threat to individuals as well as public and private sector organisations.
“It is our responsibility to have an effective cyber-crime management strategy in place to identify and prevent such attacks. Our partnership with Home Credit India will enable us to spread fraud awareness and reduce cyber-crimes.”
“We intend to provide our citizens a safe and friendly platform aided by technology for online banking, thus protecting them from financial frauds and cyber-crimes,” he added.
