Two kabaddi players from Pune killed in road accident in Bijapur, seven injured

Two Kabaddi players from Indapur taluka in Pune were killed and seven more were critically injured in a car accident near Ronihal Cross on NH 218 in Bijapur on Wednesday.

Syed Sohail (20) and Mahadev Avati (23), were the residents of Kulum near Pune. The injured players and the driver are being treated at a private hospital in Vijayapura. The accident occurred on the highway when they were going to Bilagi in Bagalkot district for tournament, the police said.

MP Supriya Sule tweeted about the incident saying, “The vehicle of Maharana Kabaddi team from Kalamb in Indapur met with an accident in Bijapur in which two talented Kabaddi players Sohel Sayyed and Mahadev Awate lost their lives while two more were critically injured. We stand with their family members and pay our respects to the deceased. We also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured”.

Police officials from Kolhar police station rushed to the spot and inspected the accident.
