Trump-Melania Visited Taj, Asked These Questions to Guide

Agra : Today is the last day of US President Donald Trump’s visit to India.  This morning, Trump and his wife Melania will be welcomed in the Rashtrapati Bhavan in a traditional way. Earlier, US President Donald Trump and Melania yesterday visited the Taj Mahal. During this time, Trump and Melania asked the guide Nitin Singh many questions on Dastan-e-Taj. Seeing the graves of Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal in the main dome of the Taj, when they heard the story of the Taj, First Lady Melania Trump got emotional.

1. Donald Trump Asked the Guide – Who made the Taj Mahal?

Nitin Singh : Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in memory of Begum Arjumand Banu Begum alias Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal was built between 1631 and 1648.

2. Donald Trump : Where did the Taj Mahal artisans come from?

Nitin Singh : More than 20 thousand artisans built the Taj in 17 years.  These artisans came from all over the country, who specializes in making marble buildings. The design was created by Ustad Ahmad Lahori and Amat Khan of Shiraji was assigned the task of keligraphy on the dome. Ismail Khan Afridi, the architect of Turkey’s dome, built the dome.

3. Donald Trump : Where did the marble for the Taj come from?

Nitin Singh : Marble came from Makrana, Rajasthan.  The black stone was brought from Kadapa in South India. Precious stones were brought from Russia, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Arabia, China, Sri Lanka, sea etc.

4. Melania Trump : Where was Shah Jahan imprisoned?

Nitin Singh : Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb and kept for eight years in the Musamman Burj of Agra Fort.
Melania, being extremely emotional, remarked that it was strange that who built such a beautiful tomb, was imprisoned.

Nitin Singh : The cleaning of the Taj Mahal has been going on for five years.  The Taj has been cleaned with mudpack treatment in a natural way without any chemicals. Mudpack treatment has been cleaned only once in 370 years. The Taj has arrived in its old form.

7. Ivanka : Did Shahjahan really cut the hands of the Taj Mahal artisans?

Nitin Singh : No, it is a lie. Shah Jahan had promised the artisans that they would no longer work. Instead, they were paid their life-long wages.

8. Ivanka : How did Mumtaz Mahal die?

Nitin Singh : Due to deteriorating health after giving birth to 14th child (Gauhra Begum).
