Traffic diversion in Pune Camp (Army) area on December 31; Fergusson College road and MG road to be ‘No-Vehicle Zone’ for 10 hours
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Traffic Police | On December 31 (Saturday), citizens gather in large numbers on various streets of the city to celebrate New Year. To avoid traffic jams, traffic diversions have been made on MG road, Camp area considering the possibility of heavy crowding on December 31. DCP Vijaykumar Magar has issued orders regarding traffic diversions. (Pune Traffic Police)
Following changes have been made in Camp area on December 31, 2022, from 5 pm till the end of the rush hours for vehicles except essential services vehicles (eg fire brigade, police vehicles, ambulances, etc.):
1. Traffic coming from Y Junction towards MG Road will be stopped at 15th August Chowk and diverted towards Qureshi Masjid and Sujata Mastani Chowk.
2. Traffic going from ISKCON Mandir Chowk to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue, Arora Tower will be closed.
3. The traffic from Volga Chowk to Mahammad Rafi Chowk will be stopped and it will be diverted directly to Indira Gandhi Chowk via East Street Road.
4. Traffic going from Indira Gandhi Chowk to Mahavir Chowk will be stopped and diverted from Indira Gandhi Chowk to Lashkar Police Station Chowk.
5. Traffic going from Sarbatwala Chowk to Mahavir Chowk will be stopped and diverted via Taboot Street Road.
No-Vehicle Zone ( at 7 pm on December 31, 2022 to 5 am on January 1, 2023)
1. Fergusson road – From Goodluck Chowk to Fergusson College main gate
2. MG Road – 15th August Chowk to Hotel Aurora Tower
On December 31, 2022, a special campaign regarding drunken driving will be implemented by the traffic department. Action will be taken against people driving after consuming alcohol. Blow pipes will be used as ‘per pipe, per person’ while conducting breathalyzer tests to curb the spread of COVID infection during the operation.
The police have appealed to citizens not to drive vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
