Telangana govt announces 30% pay hike for govt employees

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Monday (March 22, 2021) announced 30 percent fitment for all government employees and teachers and raised their retirement age from 58 to 61.

“I am happy to announce the good news to all state government employees and teachers that they will get 30 percent fitment and to this effect, the orders will be implemented from April 1, 2021,” Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) said.

The new pay hike will be effective from April 1, 2021. The salary hike will benefit around 9.17 lakh employees working in the state.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, announced increasing the gratuity at retirement for the employees from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. The government also decided to to reduce the age limit from 75 years to 70 years for 15 percent additional quantum of pension to the retired government employees and teachers.

He said the salary hike will be extended to all the government employees, grant-in-aid employees, work-charged employees, daily wages employees, full-time contingent employees, part-time contingent employees and pensioners among others. “In all, the salary hike would benefit 9,17,797 employees of all categories,” he said.

He further said after deliberations with employees, teachers’ unions, the government has taken up the process of promotions as requested by its staff. Till now, 80 percent of the promotion process of employees has been completed. After this process is completed, 100 percent of eligible employees would get promotions and the government would soon start the process of filling vacancies created by promotions, he said.
