SURVEY : Over 72% People Trust PM Narendra Modi On Matters Of National Security

New Delhi : Tension remains on the border between India and China. Meanwhile, more than 70 percent of the people across the country are expressing confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi on matters of national security. This is revealed in the IANS C-Voter survey. According to a recent IANS CVoter snap poll, 72.6 per cent of the people of the country believe that Prime Minister Modi will handle the situation to a large extent. At the same time, 16.2 percent feel that he will be able to handle the situation ‘to some extent’, while 11.2 percent people did not express any confidence in the Prime Minister in this matter.

The survey was conducted among people from different geographical backgrounds, from different income groups, different levels of education as well as people belonging to different castes, who expressed their views independently. The survey was carried out last week amid tensions running along the border between India and China, when forces from the two countries clashed in the Galvan Valley of Ladakh last year, killing 20 Indian soldiers, including a commanding officer.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister had said that the issue of sovereignty of India is supreme. Modi also said that the soldiers have taught a lesson to the watchers on Indian territory. The survey asked the respondents a question, how much do you trust Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the matter of national security.

The survey has revealed that people above 60 years of age, people from low-educated, high-income groups and men have shown great trust in the Prime Minister in the security of the country. In addition, the survey revealed that 82.6 percent of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) voters trust their elected leader. On the other hand, 51.1 percent of the people who vote for opposition parties believe in the Indian leadership.

Those who have no faith in Modi’s ability to handle this situation include the highly educated, Muslim, Sikh and the youth population between 25 and 45 years. Only 5.3 percent of the NDA voters do not trust the Prime Minister.
