The world’s tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, set up at Kevadia in Gujarat, was unveiled by Prime Minister on Wednesday. After this unveiling ceremony, Modi addressed the audience. Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the work of the country’s first Home Minister Sardar Patel.

“Sardar Patel had played a significant role to unify the country. There was a feeling of billions of people in the country that Patel should be honoured for his work. By giving the respect to their feelings, the government has done the work of constructing a memorial of Sardar Patel. This memorial will play an important role in the country’s economy and job creation. Thousands of tribal people in Gujarat will get employment through this memorial,” said by PM Narendra Modi.

“Lakhs of farmers came together to build ‘Statue of Unity’. They gave their tools. One kind of movement stood in the country. Therefore, today is the day of pride in the history of the country, “Modi said.

Ram Sutar the architect of the statue of Sardar Patel was also felicitated by PM Modi. A 93 year old man- Ram Sutar who won the Tagore award in 2016. He was born in a poor family at Gondur village of Dhule, Maharashtra. He has created many famous sculptures. Now, the world’s tallest statue also added in his list. He has created many sculptures of great personalities including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
