Shivajinagar : Bikers run over cop to avoid penal action for not wearing mask

Pune: A shocking incident has taken place in Shivajinagar where a police officer investigating the covid19 safety protocols was hit by two persons. Policeman suffered a severe leg injury in this incident. Both the persons who brutally hit the policeman have been arrested.

The arrested are Saurabh Lahu Umre (20, resident of Sainagar, Hingane) and Mayur Dhananjay Chatur (26). The name of the policeman injured in this incident is Balaji Pandhare (27). A case has been registered at Shivajinagar police station.

According to the police, Balaji is posted in Shivajinagar Traffic Division. Meanwhile, he was taking action against those who were not wearing masks at Veer Chafekar Chowk yesterday. During this, he saw the two of the accused on bikes without wearing masks. When he tried to stop, both tried to escape but the vigilant policeman stopped them.

When they were asked to pay a fine for not wearing a mask, both the accused behaved rudely and insulted the policeman. They also hit the policeman with their vehicle and the policeman fell down. Not only this, the two of them passed their bike on policeman’s feet which caused severe injury to policeman. They also hindered the government proceedings. Citizens and police caught both of them. They have been booked and currently they are in police custody. Shivajinagar police are conducting further investigation.
