SC issues notice to Yoga Guru Ram Dev Baba

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- India’s most followed Yoga guru Ram Dev Baba and Patanjali’s founder was issued a notice to by Supreme Court(SC) on Friday rejecting his plea issued on the book containing defamatory content. SC has given this notice in response to a petition filed against a verdict given by High Court.

Notably, High Court had put a ban on the publication and selling a book written on Yoga guru Ram Dev Baba, ‘Godman to Tycoon: The Untold Story of Baba Ramdev’. According to the court, the book had some defamatory content about the life of yoga guru. SC has postponed the next hearing in this case in the month of January 2019.

Since many days, the book which was written on Ram Dev Baba ‘Godman to Tycoon’ is under controversy. According to the yoga guru, the book contains some offensive language used to describe his life.

Ram Dev Baba presented this matter in Delhi High Court, after the hearings in court, HC decided to put a ban on the book’s publication.  When the issue was raised to SC, after the hearing of this case, the court issued a notice to Ram Dev Baba. Court has postponed the next hearing for January 2019.

The High court restraining the publication of the book said that the person about whom the book was written is a ‘living human being’ and should be treated with utmost dignity.

The book is written by journalist Priyanka Pathak Narain. The book was released on July 29, 2017, and Baba Ram Dev had approached the court on August 4, the same year.

After the objections raised by Ram Dev Baba, the publisher said that at the end of the book there are extracts of the facts and also included details of all the people who were interviewed before the book was written.
