Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) | Affiliation Crisis: 350 Colleges in Pune Face Uncertainty
Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) | Affiliation of approximately 350 colleges affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) hangs in the balance. These colleges are required to submit bonds to the university annually to cover operational deficits. However, colleges that have failed to rectify these deficiencies are now facing consequences. A committee of experts will be formed by the university to make decisions regarding these matters.
With the implementation of the new National Education Policy (NEP), the objective is to grant autonomy to colleges and establish group universities. To achieve this, every college must possess adequate academic facilities and faculty members. In light of this, the University has initiated a comprehensive evaluation of all affiliated colleges.
Savitribai Phule Pune University has jurisdiction over the districts of Pune, Ahmednagar, and Nashik. Unfortunately, the university has identified numerous policy violations in several colleges within these districts. Consequently, the university asserts that the colleges must undergo assessment in accordance with the new educational policy.
