Satara police bust gang of honey-trap robbers

Satara: Police arrested gang of three, including a woman, from Karavagaj in Baramati for robbing people by luring them into a love affair through social media.

The police have arrested Vaibhav Prakash Nale (28), Ajinkya Raosaheb Nale (28), both residents of Karavagaj, Baramati, and a 28-year-old woman from Theur area.

According to the police, in December 2020, the accused lured a man through Facebook and WhatsApp and called him to Thoseghar in Satara taluka. They robbed his gold jewelry, four-wheeler and cash. The accused also confessed to the police that they had taken photos and videos of him and threatened to make them viral. The gang also confessed to have committed a similar crime in Pune district.

The action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Bansal, Additional Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Patil, Assistant Superintendent of Police Aanchal Dalal, and was led by Satara Taluka Police Station Inspector Sajan Hankare, Sub-Inspector Amit Patil, Constables Dada Parihar, Sujit Bhosale, Sagar Nikam, Satish Pawar, Nitiraj Thorat, Rajendra Banjari, Maloji Chavan and Vishwanath Ambrale.
