Ranveer Singh shares first picture as Kapil Dev
NPnews24 Online Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh turned 34 today and to celebrate this special occasion, the ‘Gully Boy’ shared his first official picture essaying the role of former cricketer Kapil Dev for his forthcoming movie called ’83’.
Directed by Kabir Khan, the sports drama film will hit the theatres on April 10, 2020. The film is based on the Cricket World Cup 1983 when India for the first time ever had surprised the whole world by winning its first ever cricket world cup.
Ranveer Singh will be playing the role of former cricketer Kapil Dev who led India to win the historic 1983 World Cup victory. Ranveer shared his first look for the film on his Twitter account.
“On my special day, here’s presenting THE HARYANA HURRICANE KAPIL DEV,” the Bollywood actor tweeted on Saturday.
The movie will also feature Ranveer’s real-life wife Deepika Padukone, who will portray the role of Romi Bhatia (wife of Kapil Dev) on the screen. She is also one of the producers of the movie.
Other producers of the sports biopic are Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala and Madhu Mantena.
The picture immediately has gone viral on social media and fans are going gaga over it.
Other B’town celebrities and cricketers are gushing over Ranveer’s uncanny resemblance to Kapil Dev.
The movie ’83’ also stars actors Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Jiiva, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, Pankaj Tripathi, Sahil Khattar and Chirag Patil in significant roles. It is expected to be the biggest sports biopic of the season.
