Pune: Young Man Booked by Hadapsar Police Under Rape Charges; Accused of Sexually Assaulting Woman Under False Pretext of Marriage

Pune: A police complaint was lodged against a 25-year-old person for allegedly keeping sexual relations with a young woman against her wishes by cajoling her into a fake marriage promise. The accused, identified as Sahil Avinash Ghule, later reneged on his promise and cheated the girl. In this regard, a 24-year-old girl filed a complaint against Ghule at Hadapsar Police Station on Tuesday, February 27.

Ghule is a resident of Hadapsar and is acquainted with the plaintiff girl, who resides in the Kalepadal area of Hadapsar. As per the complaint, the accused initiated contact with the girl and later trapped her in his love. He later raped the girl by taking her to various lodges in the city and falsely promising her marriage.

The girl further complained that Ghule repeatedly raped her against her wishes. Furthermore, he also attempted to molest and maintain physical relations with the girl in her house when her parents were not in the house. This incident was going on between August 2022 and December 2023 at a lodge on the Pune-Solapur highway and in the plaintiff girl’s house.

However, when the victim girl asked Ghule about the marriage, to her surprise, he astonishingly brushed off her request and threatened her against saying anything about it to anybody. After realising that she had been cheated, the accused rushed to the police station. Accordingly, Hadapsar police booked the accused under IPC 376, 376/2/N, 504, and 506 and started an investigation into the case.
