Pune: Mundhwa Police arrest thieves stealing disc tyres of auto-rickshaws

Pune: Two persons have been arrested for stealing disc tyres of auto-rickshaws parked on the roadside in the Bhim Nagar slum area under the jurisdiction of the Mundhwa Police Station.

The incident took place on February 22. The police have seized the auto-rickshaw used in the crime and valuables from the accused.

The arrested have been identified as Vajid Yunus Ansari (22) and Zaid Javed Shaikh (22), both residents of Hadapsar. The accused had stolen 10 discs and tyres of six auto-rickshaws. A case has been registered under sections 379, 34 of the IPC.

The investigation squad visited the crime spot. They took details of the modus operandi and suspects and searched for them. Policeman Dinesh Bhandurge from the investigation team got a tip-off that the accused would arrive under the bridge on Hadapsar-Mundhwa road. The squad laid a trap and nabbed the accused. On sustained interrogation, they confessed to the crime. Valuables such as an auto-rickshaw, 10 disc tyres, a steel wheel opening tool, etc, valued at Rs 60,000 have been seized.

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Amitesh Kumar, Joint CP Praveen Pawar and Addl CP Manoj Patil. DCP R Raja and ACP Ashwini Rakh instructed the team. Sr PI Mahesh Bolkotgi, API Raju Mahanor, Asst PSI Santosh Jagtap, policemen Dinesh Bhandurge, Santosh Kale, Rahul More and Rakesh Bobade took part in it.
