Pune: Investor Swindled of Rs 87 Lakh! Case Registered Against Hotel Owner at Bund Garden Police Station

Pune: A woman investor was duped of Rs 87 lakh, 47 thousand, by luring her into a partnership promise and appropriate shares in the hotel business in return for a significant investment in the business. In this regard, a case has been registered against the owner of ‘Hotel Botanica Green Bar and Restaurant’ at Bund Garden Police Station.

This incident came to light after a 32-year-old woman living in a society on NIBM Road in Kondhwa filed a complaint regarding it at Bund Garden police station on Tuesday, February 27. The accused named in this complaint is identified as Sujan Sampat Kedare. Kedare, 34, is a resident of the Maharashtra Housing Board, Yerawada, and is a hotelier by profession.

As per the complaint, the plaintiff is a financial investor. In 2021, the plaintiff met Kedare, after which Kedare informed her about his hospitality business and asked her to invest in his parent company, ‘Peacemill Hospitality LLP’, in return for a significant share and partnership in his latest venture.

Accordingly, the plaintiff and Kedare had multiple meetings after that regarding the business plans, and it was decided that the plaintiff would invest Rs 87 lakh, 47 thousand, in the business in exchange for 35 percent of the partnership shares. As per the plan, the plaintiff invested the proposed amount in Kedare’s account from time to time. However, Kedare did not make a partnership agreement between them.

Meanwhile, Kedare started ‘Hotel Botanica Green Bar & Restaurant’ in the Raja Bahadur Mill premises on Bund Garden Road. Shockingly, even after this, the accused neither shared any kind of profit with the plaintiff nor returned her principal amount. The complainant alleged that, after some time, the accused closed the restaurant and embezzled her money.

After realising that she had been cheated, the plaintiff filed a complaint with the Bund Garden police. Accordingly, police booked the accused, Kedare, under IPC 406, 419, and 420. Police Sub-Inspector Gawade has informed that the police have registered all the recordings and statements of all the people in this case and have initiated further investigation into the case.
