Pune Winter Season: Chill delayed by two weeks, night temperatures likely to drop after December first week

Pune: This year, Puneites will have to wait for two more weeks for experiencing the winter chill they usually experience immediately after Diwali. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the winter season will begin after the first week of December 2020.

IMD has observed that the minimum temperature in the city has risen by one to four degrees Celsius above average as the city has been experiencing partly-cloudy weather for the past two days.

Usually the winter season in the city is experienced between October to January after Diwali festival. The city has been experiencing high and low temperature in the last three days of November this year as compared to last year. The situation is similar in the state, but there are signs of cold in the state in the next 20 days, according to the IMD.

The northeast monsoon is active in the country. As a result, winds blowing in the state from the northeast and north are bringing humidity. As a result, cloudy weather has prevailed in some parts of the state, while the minimum temperature is rising and the cold is receding. The city also has partly cloudy weather.

This will be the case in November
– It will be cloudy in some parts of the state from November 20 to 26. In South Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Konkan Goa, the minimum temperature dropped by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius above average.
– The state will have dry climate from November 27 to December 3, with maximum temperatures dropping by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius above average. However, in some parts of Vidarbha, including Central Maharashtra and Marathwada, the minimum temperature may drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above average.

The city will see a slight drop in average temperatures between November 27 and 28. However, the minimum temperature will rise after that and the minimum temperature is likely to fall after the first week of December. Therefore, from the second week of December, the cold will intensify in most parts of the state.
