Pune: Two held for woman’s murder in Budhwar Peth (Video)

Pune: A woman was beaten up with sticks on suspicion of a mobile phone theft. Later, she died. Two persons have been arrested for the woman’s death.

The incident took place at 8.30 am on Monday near Shrinath Talkies.

The victim has been identified as Varsha Thorat (35) while Abdul Sayyad and Gaurav Chowgule have been arrested in this regard.

According to the police, Thorat was a destitute and an alcoholic. Sayyad has a hand cart. He lost his mobile phone a couple of weeks ago. He suspected Thorat for the theft. Hence, Saayad and Chowgule questioned her about the missing cell phone. They had an argument over the issue, which led to the beating of Thorat. After the assault, she collapsed. She was shifted to a hospital. However, the doctors declared her dead before arrival.

After learning about the incident, the Faraskhana Police arrested the accused and a case was registered.
