Pune: Honest auto-rickshaw driver felicitated for depositing valuables worth Rs 1.10 lakh in Mundhwa Police Station

Pune: In this age of making a quick buck, an auto-rickshaw driver has set an example. He found a bag of a passenger containing valuables worth Rs 1.10 lakh, which he promptly deposited in the Mundhwa Police Station.

Navnit Lal Gugale, a resident of Kharadigaon, hailing from Navasa of Ahmednagar district, was felicitated for his honesty by Sr PI Mahesh Bolkotgi.

According to the details, Gugale was plying his auto-rickshaw from Kharadi to Hadapsar when he spotted a lady’s purse on Mundhwa over-bridge. Without waiting for a moment, he handed over the bag containing a laptop, charger, mobile charger, Aadhaar, PAN, ATM card, RC book and other valuables amounting to Rs 1.10 lakh to the Mundhwa Police.

Sr PI Bolkotgi instructed API Ramesh Ugale to find out the owner’s name and mobile phone number from the number on the RC book.

On the basis of those details, the police contacted Mamtosh Prakash, a resident of Patna. He told the police that his daughter Mahi Muskan was using his vehicle and stayed in Amanora City.

The Mundhwa Police established contact with Mahi Muskan and returned her valuables. Mahi Muskan thanked the Pune Police and appreciated their efforts.

In this case, CP Amitesh Kumar, Jt CP Praveen Pawar and Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma guided while DCP R Raja, ACP Ashwini Rakh instructed Sr PI Mahesh Bolkotgi, API Umesh Ugle, policemen Nilesh Palve, Sachin Adsul and others.
