Pune Senior Citizen Assault Case: Former MLA Harshavardhan Jadhav remanded in two days police custody by court

Pune: Former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Harshavardhan Raibhan Jadhav (43) has been remanded in police custody for two days by a judicial magistrate (first class) court here on Wednesday (December 16). Jadhav was produced in the court in connection with a case in which he allegedly assaulted two senior citizens after they had an accident with his car on Monday (December 14) morning at Bremen Chowk in Aundh.

Jadhav was arrested on Tuesday late evening by the Chatuhshrungi police. Jadhav and and his acquaintance Isha Balakant Jha (37) were booked on charges of attempt to murder. Aman Ajay Chaddha (28), a resident of Bhau Patil Road in Bopodi has filed a complaint against the suspects.

During the hearing in court, Jadhav alleged that the complainant Chadda had kidnapped and beaten him up. “I along with Isha Jha had gone to a shop in Bavdhan when the Chadda’s kidnapped and beat us. We tried to register our complaint but the police did not entertain us. The FIR against me is politically motivated,” Jadhav alleged.

According to police, Jadhav stays at Balewadi while Jha stays at Wakad. They both were travelling in a car. Complainant Chaddha’s mother and father were heading towards their home on a two-wheeler.

While the complainant’s mother and father were going towards Sanghvi Nagar from Bremen chowk, Jadhav’s suddenly opened the door of his four-wheeler. Due to this Chaddha’s fell down from their bike and received injuries.

When Ajay Chaddha started questioning, Jadhav and Jha started beating up the couple instead of accepting their mistake. Complainant’s mother also pleaded with Jadhav to let her husband go as he had recently undergone a heart surgery. Still, Jadhav and Jha conspired and assaulted the couple.
