Pune city Congress receives a big jolt, PMC group leader’s kin joins BJP ahead of civic polls

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Political News | Parties in the city are bracing for the impending civic elections. In this backdrop, the Congress city unit received a big jolt. Congress group leader in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) corporator Arvind Shinde’s nephew and social worker Tukaram Shinde’s grandson Pranay Shinde has left the Congress party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP state president and MLA Chandrakant Patil welcomed Shinde in the BJP.

 

Mayor Muralidhar Mohol, BJP city unit president Jagdish Mulik, BJP group leader in PMC Ganesh Bidkar, BJP general secretary Rajesh Pandey, BJYM president Raghavendra (Bapu) Mankar, BJP city unit general secretary corporator Deepak Pote, BJP Pune city spokesman Sandeep Khardekar and BJYM general secretary Abhijeet Raut were present.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Chandrakant Patil said, “Every individual is connected to the BJP due to work done by PM Narendra Modi. Hence, it has become the number one party in the world. Pranay Shinde should work for building the party organization and take Modiji’s work to the people.”

 

Jagdish Mulik said the BJP will not be at a loss due to a couple of defections. On the contrary, many stalwarts from the city will join the BJP in the near future. This will help strengthen the BJP.

 

“I am entering the BJP following the ideology of the party and after getting inspired by PM Narendra Modiji. I will work honestly to expand the party base,” said Pranay Shinde.

 

Meanwhile, BJYM president Raghvendra (Bapu) Mankar appointed Pranay Shinde as the BJYM Pune city unit vice-president.
