Pune PMC News | PMC Education Board Takes Action Against Bill Clerks for Salary Delays

Pune : Pune PMC News | In a move to address the recurring issue of delayed salary disbursements to teachers and non-teaching staff in the Education Board, the Additional Commissioner of the Municipality, Ravindra Binwade, has taken decisive action. Four Bill Clerks in the Education Board have been suspended due to their failure to draw employee salaries on time, irregular attendance, and repeated absences from crucial meetings with senior officials.

The suspension comes as a result of a thorough review, which revealed that these four individuals were responsible for the frequent non-payment of salaries and disruptions to pension distribution in the education board. The delay in salary disbursements has caused significant inconvenience to the board’s staff, prompting the need for immediate corrective action.

Furthermore, the Education Board is facing a shortage of teachers, particularly in Marathi, Urdu, and English medium primary schools, as 219 teachers on inter-district transfer were asked to report to the Bharnar Mahapalika Education Board. Unfortunately, only 37 of them have actually joined their assigned positions. To address this shortage, the Municipal Corporation has decided to recruit contract teachers. An advertisement for these positions will be published by the next Friday.

In an effort to streamline administrative processes and ensure timely salary payments, the Municipal Corporation has decided to adopt a sophisticated salary system software. Similar to the system already in place for municipality employees, this software will record the attendance and leave of education board employees online. The employees will be required to apply for leave online, and their attendance and leave records will be updated in the software. With this new system, the goal is to ensure that salaries and pensions are paid on time, alleviating the frustrations caused by delayed payments.

The adoption of this new software is expected to be implemented starting from next August. The move reflects the municipality’s commitment to prioritize the welfare of its employees and ensure that they are compensated promptly and efficiently for their hard work.

The suspension of the Bill Clerks and the introduction of the salary system software mark significant steps towards addressing the longstanding issues faced by the Education Board.
