Pune : Pune PMC Heritage Walks | The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is planning to expand the Heritage Walk concept, which is currently implemented in the heart of the city. It may start two or more separate heritage walks at the Sinhagad fort, Shivsrushti at Ambegaon, the Iskcon temple and the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park in Katraj and the Aga Khan Palace on Ahmednagar road.
This was revealed by Additional Municipal Commissioner Vikas Dhakne. There are several monuments and historical places in the heart of the city such as Shaniwarwada, Lal Mahal, Nana Wada, Vishrambaugwada, Mahatma Phule Mandai and Tulshibaug. The current Heritage Walk is arranged to get acquainted with these places.
Moreover, there is Sinhagad fort at some distance from the city, the newly opened Shivsrushti in Ambegaon, the Iskcon temple and Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, Aga Khan Palace on Ahmednagar road and Deccan College in Yerwada. The PMPML’s Pune Darshan bus service covers most of these heritage monuments. However, there are no guides to explain to visitors the historical importance of these places. Moreover, all these places cannot be visited in one day.
In this backdrop, the civic administration is planning to launch 3-4 new heritage walks. Officials concerned from various departments of the civic body held a meeting on Tuesday in this regard. Soon, the walks will be launch, said Dhakne.
