Pune News | Despite PMC Inclusion Mhalunge Residents Struggle To Get Basic Amenities

Pune: Pune News | The residents of Mhalunge, a north-western suburb that was brought within the limits of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) in 2021 due to rapid urbanization, continue to face an array of issues with no respite in sight. Despite the area’s proximity to the Hinjewadi IT Park and Pune-Mumbai Expressway, essential services like good roads, proper garbage collection, and reliable water supply seem elusive.

Traffic issues, bad roads, and erratic power supply plague the residents on a daily basis, creating a sense of frustration among the community. The area’s inclusion into PMC had raised hopes of improved infrastructure and amenities, but little has changed on the ground.

The garbage collection system remains abysmal, leaving unsightly heaps of trash along the roads. Furthermore, the lack of attention to sewage water overflowing in front of a major school adds to the residents’ concerns for their health and safety.

Power cuts are frequent, causing damage to electrical appliances due to voltage fluctuations, adding to the daily woes of the residents. The absence of a reliable water supply from the civic body forces residents to spend significant amounts on private water tankers, putting an additional financial burden on them.

Despite the promises made during the area’s merger into PMC, the residents feel neglected and left to grapple with the same long-standing problems. The lack of concrete action by the authorities has left them disillusioned and yearning for meaningful solutions to their pressing issues.
