Pune: MLA Ravindra Dhangekar booked for abusing civic officer

Pune: Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar has paid dearly for abusing a civic officer during the inauguration of a water tank at Asha Nagar in Gokhale Nagar. Following the condemnation of the incident by the Civic Engineers’ Federation, a case has been registered for obstructing government work against Dhangekar and his followers at the Chatuhshrungi Police Station.

A complaint has been lodged by the PMC Water Supply Department’s Nandkishor Jagtap.

The water tank at Asha Nagar was to be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Republic Day. Local Congress leaders alleged that they were not invited for the programme. A dispute ensued, during which Dhangekar abused the civic officer.

A video of the incident went viral on social media. The civic engineers association held a meeting at the PMC and condemned the incident. Then a complaint was lodged at the Chatuhshrungi Police Station and a case was registered.
