Municipal Commissioner warns of action if the banners are not brought under the rules within 15 days

Pune: The Municipal Commissioner has warned of action against inspectors in the Sky Sign Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and owners after irregularities were found in 150 ‘authorised’ hoardings.

The civic administration is taking stern action against illegal and dangerous billboards in the city. A survey was conducted with the help of employees from other departments of the civic body to locate such banners. It was found that around 150 authorised banners had irregularities. The civic chief has sought photos of all authorised hoardings. He has warned of action against the inspectors from the Sky Sign and Licence Department and the owners of these the billboards it they are not brought under relevant rules within 15 days. Senior civic officials revealed this.

Municipal Commissioner conducted a review meeting about hoardings in the city. Additional Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj BP, Sky Sign Department Head Madhav Jagtap, senior officials and inspectors were present. Earlier, the survey report conducted by officials from other departments and photos of the hoardings were presented. Though the photos were that of all authorised hoardings, the billboards did not adhere to the rules such as their sizes, their distance from the crossroads, etc. In this backdrop, orders have been issued to click photos of around 2,600 hoardings in the city.

It is said that the Sky Sign Department is in trouble after the survey revealed irregularities in the authorised billboards. The civic chief has pulled up the officials concerned for not examining a hoarding before authorising it.

Senior officials said that the Municipal Commissioner has warned of action if the said hoardings are not brought under the rules within 15 days.
