Pune: Missing woman’s body found in water tanker, suicide or murder?

Pune: The body of a woman, who left home without intimating anyone, was found in a water tanker on Thursday morning. The incident came to light while supplying water to a household near the Power House in Fursungi.

The Hadapsar Police are investigating whether it is a suicide or murder.

The deceased has been identified as Kaushalya Mukesh Chavan (25), a resident of Handewadi. The missing woman’s complaint was lodged at the Kondhwa Police Station.

According to the Hadapsar Police, Purushottam Narendra Sasane (27) supplies tanker water. After supplying water throughout the day on Wednesday, he parked the tanker in front of his house at 8.30 pm and retired for the day.

As usual, he took his tanker to Ramtekdi for filling water on Thursday morning. Then he went to supply water to a household at Fursungi near the Power House. He turned on the valve to release water but it was blocked. He again checked the valve. He removed the pipe when he saw a part of a sari in it. He climbed on top of the tanker and looked into the tanker and saw the body of a woman. He immediately informed the Hadapsar Police about it. The police reached the spot and conducted a panchnama and sent the body to the Sassoon Hospital for a post-mortem.

The police are probing why the woman left her home. It is still not clear whether it is a suicide or a murder. The post-mortem will reveal this, said the police. They are investigating further.
