Pune: Innkeeper Arrested for Unlicensed Pistol Possession Amid Safety Fears from Taljai Pathar (Video)

Pune: Sahakarnagar Police apprehended an innkeeper, Vaibhav, alias Samyam Prakash Kataria, for unlawfully carrying a pistol without a licence, citing concerns for his safety. The arrest, made on Friday at Taljai Pathar, Dhankawadi, led to the confiscation of one pistol and a live cartridge valued at Rs 51,000 from the accused.

The police, on patrol duty to curb criminal activities, received information from Police Inspector Amol Pawar regarding a suspicious individual, Vaibhav Kataria, waiting at Tirupati Nagar Chowk, Taljai Pathar Dhankawadi, allegedly armed with a pistol. Acting swiftly, the team apprehended Kataria and conducted a search, revealing a country-made pistol, magazine, and a live cartridge concealed in his attire.

Upon interrogation, Kataria confessed that he carried the pistol out of fear for his life, stemming from an attempted murder incident two years prior. Records indicate three cases of attempted murder and one of fighting registered against him at Baramati Taluka Police Station.

This action was carried out by the police team comprising Assistant Police Inspector Chhabu Berad, Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Bapu Khutwad, Police Constables Amol Pawar, Kiran Kamble, Bajrang Pawar, Mahesh Mandlik, Navnath Shinde, Sagar Kumhar, Amit Padmale, Sanjay Gaikwad, Nilesh Shivtare, Sagar Sutkar, and Vishal Wagh, under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Western Regional Division Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police Nandini Vagyani, Senior Police Inspector Surendra Malale, and Police Inspector Crime Uttam Bhajanawale.
