Pune: Sexual Assault of Minor Leads to Her Pregnancy; Accused Booked Under POCSO Act at Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station

Pune: A startling incident of sexual harassment of a minor girl has come to light in the Katraj area, where a minor girl was brutally raped by a young man who called her and asked her to come to his friend’s house in Katraj. Disturbingly, because of this, the minor girl gave birth to one child. According to the police, the accused is a notorious criminal and has multiple cases registered against him.

This incident was revealed after a minor girl gave birth to the child on March 27. In this regard, Bharati Vidyapeeth police registered a complaint against the accused, Sagar Sandeep Sharma, a resident of SRA Colony, Bharti Vidyapeeth, Pune, under IPC 376, 376/2/J/N, and 376/3 and the POCSO Act.

As per the complaint, the accused, Sagar Sharma, and the victim girl were initially acquainted two years ago. The accused lured the minor girl into a cunning love trap and falsely promised her marriage to gain her trust. After that, the accused called the victim girl to his friend’s residence in Katraj and forcefully sexually assaulted her.

The girl complained that the accused repeatedly raped her after that. Due to this, the victim became pregnant and finally gave birth to a baby boy on the evening of March 27. After that, a complaint was lodged against the accused at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station. Further investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Bhabad.

As per the criminal record of the accused, it is learned that the accused, Sharma, is a notorious criminal and has multiple cases registered against him at Bharti Vidyapeeth police station. The then Former Commissioner of Police, Ritesh Kumar, took action against Sharma under the MPDA Act in December 2023 and lodged him in Nashik Central Jail for one year. Approximately seven heinous crimes have been registered against Sagar Sharma so far.
