Pune: Four held for knife attack on youth for refusing to hand over mobile phone (Video)

Pune: Four persons travelling in an auto-rickshaw demanded the mobile phone from a youth. However, they beat him as he refused to hand over the handset. They also attacked him with a knife and caused injuries to his arm. The Mundhwa Police arrested the four attackers at Keshav Nagar in Mundwa on Thursday evening.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sarang Gaikwad alias Sarya (19), Hrishikesh alias Bhorya Govardhan Kamble (23), a resident of Mundhwa, Abhishek alias Abhay alias Dhani Dhanraj Gaikwad and Hemant alias Lalya Vilas Gaikwad (21), a resident of Keshav Nagar. A case has been registered against them under sections 394, 324, 504, 34 of the Maharashtra Police Act and they have been arrested.

Aditya Dattatraya Kamble (22), a resident of Mundhwa, lodged a complaint at the Mundhwa Police Station and the accused have been arrested. The accused are history sheeters.

The police started investigating the case by checking CCTV footage from the incident spot. Policeman Dinesh Bhandurge got a tip-off about Sarang Gaikwad and Hrishikesh Kamble, who were immediately arrested. Policeman Hemant Zurange got a tip-off about the whereabouts of Abhishek Gaikwad and Hemant Gaikwad, who were also arrested. The accused confessed to the crime after sustained interrogation. Stolen valuables and the weapon used in the crime have been seized.

The action was taken under the instructions of Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar, Joint CP Praveen Pawar, Addl CP Manoj Patil and under the guidance of DCP R Raja and ACP Ashwini Rakh. A team comprising Sr PI Mahesh Bolkotgi, PI Babasobar Nikam, API Annasaheb Tapre, Asst PSI Santosh Jagtap, policemen Hemant Zurange, Dinesh Bhandurge, Santosh Kale, Mahesh Pathak, Deepak Kadam, Rahul More, Swapnil Raskar, Hemant Perne and Sachin Patil took the action.
