Pune Crime News | Pune’s Kundmala Claims Another Life: Urgent Warning Issued to Tourists

Pune : Pune Crime News | A heart-wrenching incident occurred at Kundmala in Maval, Pune, where a young man was swept away by the force of the water. The victim, identified as Omkar Balasaheb Gaikwad, a 24-year-old, had visited Kundmala with his friend to enjoy the rainy season. Tragically, while walking along the Kundmala embankment, he slipped and was swiftly carried away by the strong currents. The Maval Wildlife Guard Rescue Team is currently engaged in search efforts, but as of now, Omkar remains unaccounted for. Videos that he had taken with his friend before the incident have gone viral on social media.

 

According to the police, Omkar and his friend arrived at Kundmala around noon, seeking to revel in the joy of the rain. They took photos and videos at the scenic location. Later, they decided to take a swim in the pool. However, as his friend was leaving the water, he urged Omkar to join him. Tragically, during his attempt to exit the pool, Omkar slipped and was swept away by the forceful current. The Maval wildlife rescue team was immediately summoned, but despite their extensive search, Omkar could not be located by nightfall. The search operation will resume today.

 

Kundmala has been the site of several tragic incidents during the rainy season, claiming numerous lives each year. As with previous years, the Talegaon MIDC Police have strongly advised against visiting the Kundmala area. Warning signs have been placed, urging visitors to prioritize their safety. Nevertheless, tourists continue to risk their lives by venturing into the area for tourism purposes.

The last video taken by Omkar before the accident has now gone viral on social media. It showcases him joyfully playing with the water at Kundmala, moments before he was swept away. The video has been widely shared, adding to the sense of tragedy surrounding this unfortunate incident.

 

Police Appeal for Caution…

Senior Police Inspector Ranjit Sawant of the Talegaon MIDC Police Station has made a heartfelt appeal to tourists, urging them to refrain from visiting Kundmala for tourism and to avoid engaging in life-threatening activities. Despite the presence of law enforcement and safety advisory boards, tourists continue to endanger themselves by disregarding the warnings. It is a plea to prioritize personal safety and avoid unnecessary risks at Kundmala.
