Pune Crime News: Gang stealing CCTV camera batteries of Smart City project arrested in Pimpri
Pune: NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime News | The police arrested the gang who stole the batteries of the state-of-the-art CCTV cameras and bikes from the Smart City project. Items worth Rs 5 lakh were seized from them. This action was taken in the Pimpri area. (Pune Crime News)
The arrested accused have been identified as Omkar Suresh Pawar (18) a resident of Milind nagar in Pimpri and Zafar Zaid Siddiqui (20) a resident of Sanjay Gandhinagar in Pimpri and Ganesh Bhunga Kamble a resident of Niradhar Nagar slum in Pimpri have been arrested. Also, three of their minor accomplices were detained.
State-of-the-art CCTV cameras have been installed in the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad under the Smart City scheme for the safety of citizens. BL company’s 100 HA power batteries were being stolen from the junction box made for CCTV cameras from the last few months. Due to this, there were complaints that the CCTV cameras at the important main roads were switched off. The police were on the lookout for the person who stole the batteries.
While patrolling in the Pimpri area, the Crime Branch police got information that the accused were hiding the batteries brought from the bike under sacks of coal in the vacant land near Niradhar Nagar slum. Accordingly, the police detained the accused and thoroughly interrogated them. During the interrogation the accused confessed to stealing batteries from CCTV junction box and also a two-wheeler from Sangvi and Nigdi area.
