Pro Kabaddi : Maharashtra’s Girish Ernak become the captain of Puneri Paltan

Puneri Paltan’s lions have come back roaring for the 2018 season of Pro Kabaddi. The team management has announced Maharashtra’s Girish Ernak as the captain of Puneri Paltan. Girish is left corner and is associated with the team since last season. In short time he has become the backbone of Puneri Paltan.

Puneri Paltan in last 3 seasons has played really well and managed to qualify for the playoffs but the team has not won a trophy in the history of PKL. The team has failed to keep their nerves in the pressure moments of the match and has lost the matches. Girish in this years’ PKL will try to change the fortune of Puneri Paltan.

On Wednesday, a press conference was held by the team owner in Pune in which the announcement of captain was made. When asked about how did Girish was chosen over well experienced players like Sandip Narwal and Nitin Tomar, Ashan Kumar the coach of Puneri Paltan said, “ we all took this decision with proper thought as Girish is in defense he is likely to stay on court for more time than any raider so we didn’t want to pick a raider. Then talking about Sandip Narwal, he is a free player and he didn’t like to be put under the pressure.”

Ashan Kumar, who is the new coach of Puneri Paltan, he is an established kabaddi player and a coach. Ashan has worked with Nashik Army Sports Unit. He holds a grade A diploma in kabaddi coaching.

Girish who is leading a PKL team for the first time was the bit nervous to entre on the mat as captain. He when asked about the feeling to led and what new he will do with the team, he said “ I am extremely honored to have been bestowed with this duty of leading the team. I know that this is not just a designation but also a great responsibility. I am humbled to know that the management has immense faith in me and I promise to put forth my best foot forward to ensure that Puneri Lions roar the loudest in all the matches. As a unit, we are putting in lots of efforts to train and strengthen our Battalion. With Ashan Sir’s guidance, we are confident about bringing the trophy home this season”

In this event, the new jersey was also launched in a unique way. The captain put his hand on a device which had his handprints on it and as soon as the handprints matched the jersey got unveiled.

The season is starting from October 7 which will last for almost 3 months.
