Pimpri Chinchwad Police Bust Narcotics Ring, Seized Mephedrone Worth Rs 16 Lakh

Pimpri: The Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Crime Branch in Pimpri Chinchwad Police has successfully seized a substantial quantity of mephedrone (MD) from the Dehuroad Police Station limits. Acting on intelligence, the police team conducted a targeted operation, resulting in the apprehension of one individual and the confiscation of narcotics valued at 16 lakh rupees.

According to Kapilesh Krishna Igwe, a 32-year-old officer from the anti-narcotics squad, the operation unfolded near Puna Gate Hotel on the old Pune-Mumbai highway on Monday (19th) at approximately 10:45 p.m. The complaint lodged at the Dehuroad police station identified the arrested individual as Shahzad Alam Abbas Qureshi, a 38-year-old native of Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, a case has been registered against Rizwan Chandiwala, hailing from Nalasopara, Mumbai, under the NDPS Act.

The anti-narcotics team acted swiftly upon receiving information about the sale of mephedrone in front of the Proactive Technical Orthopaedic Pvt. Ltd. company near Puna Gate. Setting up a trap, law enforcement officers apprehended Qureshi. Upon conducting a search, 54 grams of mephedrone valued at 5 lakhs and 40 thousand rupees were recovered from his possession.

During interrogation, Qureshi confessed to procuring the MD drugs from Rizwan Chandwala for distribution. Subsequent to the arrest, police seized the contraband, an S Cross four-wheeler bearing registration number MH 14 GY 8966, along with cash amounting to 78 thousand rupees, totalling 16 lakhs and 18 thousand 500 rupees.

Assistant Police Inspector Wagh from the Anti-Narcotics Squad is currently spearheading further investigations into the matter.
