Pimpri Chinchwad : Bhakti-Shakti Chowk flyover to be opened for traffic in December second week

Nigdi: The flyover at Bhakti-Shakti Chowk in Nigdi will be thrown open for vehicular traffic by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) after the code of conduct for graduate constituency elections is lifted in a few days.

The PCMC is constructing a grade separator, flyover and rotary road at the Bhakti-Shakti chowk. The construction of flyover is in the final stage. The construction work is going on for the last two and half years. Due to the construction work at this busy junction, the traffic is being impacted on the old Pune-Mumbai highway.

Due to this work, motorists have to cross a distance of 2.5 kilometres to take turn. Hence if the flyover is opened for vehicular traffic then it would ease the load on the highway stretch. PCMC Joint City Engineer Shrikant Savane told media persons that the flyover will be opened immediately after the code of conduct is lifted.

Savane also stated that the traffic police would soon inspect the flyover to check if it is suitable for opening it to vehicular traffic. Although the work is in final stage, there are some minor things which needs to be finished.

The election commission has imposed code of conduct in the state for the ongoing graduate constituency and teacher’s constituency elections. Once these election results are announced, the code of conduct will be lifted and then the 1-kilometre long flyover from Nigdi to Dehu road will be opened up for motorists.
