Netflix, Amazon Prime in trouble for showing vulgar content!

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE: Netflix, Amazon Prime are the most liked and used online platforms worldwide. Right from children and adults, everyone is so into these online platforms that they can’t imagine without these.

The Delhi High Court gave an important verdict on Wednesday asking to remove all the vulgar and sexually explicit content from Netflix and Amazon Prime after a petition was filed.

The verdict was given after a petition file by NGO, Justice for Rights. Advocate Harpreet S. Hora in this regard took this action and appeared for the NGO to seek the laws for monitoring the contents being shown on such online platforms.

The petition mentioned about such platforms showing vulgar, sexually explicit, pornographic, profane, virulent, religiously forbidden and morally unethical contents in order to attract more subscribers on Netflix and Amazon Prime.

The decision was taken by a constitution bench including Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and justice V. Kameswar Rao and have postponed further hearings which will be held on February 8.

The NGO which filed the petition also alleged that most of the content on Netflix and Amazon Prime violate the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act.

Netflix and Amazon Prime are such platforms which have kept on entertaining its subscribers by showing them the latest American shows and TV series. And, the citizens not only abroad but in India, consider their life to be incomplete without Netflix. Netflix, Inc. is an American media-services provider headquartered in Los Gatos, California, founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings.

Netflix is the world’s leading internet entertainment service with 130 million memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, documentaries and feature films across a wide variety of genres.
