Nashik: Zilla Parishad fake appointment letter scam uncovered, two arrested

Nashik: Police have uncovered a fake appointment letter scam related to the Zilla Parishad officials. Fake appointment letters were being issued by the suspects in the name of the Commissioner and computerized signature of the then Chief Executive Officer.

Police have arrested two persons in this regard. The suspects have been remanded in police custody till Tuesday.

A case has been registered with the Bhadrakali Police in this regard. Umesh Udawant, the main suspect is still absconding and police are on his trail. Investigating officer Assistant Inspector of Police Sandeep Varhade said, “An attempt is being made to trace his mobile number and locate him”.

Meanwhile, police on Sunday (December 13) seized a computer and other suspicious items from Kardile’s shop, one of the suspects in this case, at Karanja on Sunday.

Varhade said, “It is also being investigated whether any concrete evidence can be obtained from it”.
