Mughal Emperor ‘Great Grandson’ Offered Gold Brick For Ram Temple Construction in Ayodhya

Lucknow: Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy, the Sixth generation successor of last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, has offered to present a gold brick weighing one kilogram for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He has sought a personal meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hand over the brick to him. Prime Minister Modi is expected to lay the foundation stone for the temple next month.

Tucy said that it was a matter of happiness for both Hindus and Muslims that an issue involving the faith of over 100 crore Hindus had been resolved in an amicable manner. Tuch had earlier urged Muslims to join hands with Hindus for Ram Temple construction in Ayodhya to set an example of secularism and brotherhood.

“I extend my hearty congratulations to my Hindu brothers of India and 1 kg gold brick that I promised is ready. I have asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for time to hand over this gold brick to him,” Tucy said. Earlier, a member of the Ram Mandir trust set up to oversee its construction had said that all communities can donate for the construction of the temple.

The ground-breaking or bhoomi pujan ceremony of the Ram Temple will be held on August 5. The event is planned to be celebrated like the festival of Diwali which marks the return of Lord Rama after several years in exile. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had on Saturday visited Ayodhya to review the preparations. Around 200 people, including several top leaders of the Central and state governments are expected to attend the ceremony in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
