Now, state government has approved a fund around Rs. 185 crores. But state government has set down some terms and conditions for this fund. This fund will be given in three phases.

To avoid delay in land acquisition due to the conditions of the state government, the Municipal Corporation has to divert the funds of the city’s transport projects to this proposed flyovers. A total of Rs 185 crore will be provided for the Chandni Chowk flyover from the transport project.

Along with building of flyovers, service roads, underpass and ramps will be developed. After completion of this project, the accident rates will decrease.

Land acquisition was a major obstacle for municipal administration due to the lack of funding for constructions of flyover. Earlier, municipal corporation had made a provision of Rs 85 crore for land acquisition, but this amount was not sufficient.

The local Members of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Medha Kulkarni has consistently followed up and approved Rs 185 crore from the state government for this project. Then, there was possibility of solving the issue of land acquisition, but due to the conditions set by state government, now the Municipal Corporation has to use the funds of city’s transport projects for this.

Therefore, the administration was in a dilemma about from which project Rs 185 crore fund should be generated. Finally, It was decided by the administration to provide funds through the transport project. Now, this fund has been provided from the proposed subway, footpath and other small-scale projects under the transport department.
