People not just from India but from outside also run in this Marathon. Just like every year this year as well the runners from Ethiopia dominated the competition.  Atala Debed was crowned the winner in full marathon. But this was not the highlight of the competition cause something even more eye-catchy happened in this year’s Pune Marathon.

In this marathon’s 5 kilometre race Prashant Gorkar participated. Prashant definitely won hearts of Punekar as even after losing both his leg in a train accident he didn’t give up and participated in life. He ran with the Artificial limb.

Prashant while explaining about his journey said, “I joined Indian army in 2007 then I served in Aasam. When I was travelling to Nagpur I met with an accident and lost both my legs. I got support from my friends and family. Then someone told me about the Artificial limb. After the surgery, I could walk. I retired from the army in 2018. Now I work as a fitness trainer. I participated in Pune marathon in 2016 and this year. It feels really great.

Prashant further said “I had a lot of pain when I lost both legs in an accident. However, I am shying away from it My journey through Artificial Limb started. Even if there is a crisis in the society, the youth should not be scared. With hard work and stubbornness, we can reach our goals.”
