Khadakwasla system has 9 pc more storage than last year

Pune: It had rained in May in the catchment areas of the Khadakwasla dam system. Later, it rained sufficiently in the second week of June. Currently, there is a lull in the rain activity. However, the water storage, at present, is 29.15 percent in the four dams of the Khadakwasla system. Last year on this day, the system had 20.15 percent water storage. There is a nine percent increase this year.

It did not rain at all in the past fortnight. Khadakwasla got 15 mm rain yesterday. However, there has been no showers in the catchment areas in the past two weeks. Showers in June boosted the water storage in the system. However, there has not been any increase since. Hence, the storage did not go up substantially. Yet the storage is satisfactory at present.

The storage in all the four dams went up by 8.66 TMC till Tuesday evening. There is 29.15 percent storage of the total capacity of the Khadakwasla system. This was revealed by Khadakwasla Irrigation Division Executive Engineer Vijay Patil.

More storage compared to last year

Last year on this day, the total storage in the four dams was 5.87 TMC or 20.15 percent. This year the storage is 2.79 TMC or 9.57 percent more.
