Karvenagar : Sexual abuser manages to flee from police custody

Pune: A man charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, managed to escape from the police custody at Alankar police station in Karvenagar. The incident took place on Thursday (October 15) morning at around 6.30am inside the police station.

According to police, the man was a suspect in a case of kidnapping of a minor girl and then sexually violating her. He was booked under various sections of the laws and the FIR was filed at Alankar police station against him. The suspect was arrested by Alankar police on Wednesday night at around 10.30pm.

The suspect was in custody of Alankar police and was looked after by Police Constable Sachin Budhawale. The suspect was handcuffed and kept in the interrogation room of the police station. However, on Thursday morning at around 6.30am the suspect managed to remove the handcuffs and escaped from the police station premises.

When police personnel at the police station realized this, they started looking for the suspect. A separate case has been registered against him in connection with this. Police Sub Inspector Pratap Salvi is investigating the case.
