Irfan Sayyed and his three accomplices booked under MCOCA in CP Retesh Kumaarr’s 7th such action

Gang leader Irfan Ismail Sayyed (30) from Hadpasar, Sharad alias Danny Raosaheb Ahire (26) from Pune, Shank Audumbar Pakale (27) from Loni Kalbhor and a woman have been booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA).
On December 10, 2022, the complainant was going home from work at night. Three unidentified persons on two two-wheelers and one of their female companions stopped the complainant. They threatened him saying, “You are responsible for two accidents in the past. Pay Rs 40,000 as compensation for those accidents or else we will cut off your hand and ruin your life. You don’t appear to be a Puneite.”
The complainant was forced to borrow money from his friend through Phone Pe. That money was forcefully withdrawn from the bank ATM. Accused took Rs 20,000 in cash and Rs 20,000 on Phone Pe. Thus a total of Rs 40,000 was taken from the complainant and they brutally beat him.
A case under sections 394, 504, 506, 34 of IPC has been filed at the Dattawadi Police Station.
While investigating this crime it was revealed that Irfan Sayyed and his accomplices have committed crimes of robbery and theft at different places in the city and cases have been registered against them at various police stations. The accused have committed serious crimes such as forcible theft, disobeying police orders, creating terror, gathering illegal mobs, etc. Preventive action was taken against them but no improvement was seen. The accused repeatedly committed such crimes.
Sr. PI Abhay Mahajan, through Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-3 Suhail Sharma, had proposed to invoke the MCOCA and registered a case at the Dattawadi Police Station. The proposal was sent to Addl CP Rajendra Dahale. After verifying the documents, the Additional CP ordered action against the accused.
ACP Sunil Pawar of Sinhagad Division is conducting further investigation.
