Indonesia Plane Crash: Indian Pilot was flying the Lion Air Flight

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – The plane which got crashed into the Indonesian water just after taking off from the capital Jakarta. The plane was carrying 189 passengers. The plane gas sank into the ocean. The plane lost the contact with control room with in 13 minutes of take-off. As per reports, the captain of the aircraft was Bhavye Suneja, a Delhi boy.

Lion Air flight JT610, an almost new Boeing 737 MAX 8, lost contact with ground officials 13 minutes after take-off and crashed about 15 km (9 miles) off the coast.

Indonesia is one of the world`s fastest-growing aviation markets, although its safety record is patchy. If all aboard have died, the crash would be the country`s second-worst air disaster since 1997, industry experts said.

Captain Suneja was a resident of Jakarta. He attended Ahlcon Public School in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar area.

The Boeing 737 Max 8 carrying 189 people is believed to have sunk after crashing into the sea soon after take-off. Indonesia’s search and rescue agency said the ground controllers lost contact with the plane 13 minutes after take-off, and a tug boat leaving the capital’s port saw it fall into the sea.

Mr Suneja’s LinkedIn profile mentions that he completed pilot training from Bel Air International. He worked as a trainee pilot with Emirates for a few months before joining Lion Air. He specialised in flying Boeing 737 passenger jets.

Authorities in Indonesia have said they have not received any report of survivors in the accident, adding they hadn’t received any emergency message from the aircraft before the crash.

The National Search and Rescue Agency’s deputy chief, Nugroho Budi Wiryanto, said some 300 people including soldiers, police and local fishermen are involved in the search and that so far it has recovered no bodies _ only ID cards, personal belongings and aircraft debris.

Lion Air is one of Indonesia’s youngest and biggest airlines. The brand new Boeing 737 Max 8 was delivered to Lion Air in mid-August and put in use within days, according to aviation website Flightradar24. Boeing spokesman Paul Lewis says Boeing is “closely monitoring the situation” but did not provide details on the aircraft in question.
