Indian Kabaddi team reached Pakistan for championship, ‘We have not given permission’- said Indian Ministry

New Delhi : The Sports Ministry and the National Federation of India said that they did not allow any athletes to visit Pakistan for the World Kabaddi Championship. Indian team reached Lahore via Wagha border on Saturday to take part in the championship. The photo of the team reaching Lahore was going viral on social media. Pakistan Punjab Sports Minister Rai Timur Khan Bhatti welcomed the Indian team to the hotel in Lahore. The Kabaddi Championship is being held for the first time in Pakistan, which will start from Monday.

Sources in the Sports Ministry said, “The government has not allowed any athlete to visit Pakistan while it is mandatory to represent the country in international competition.” We came to know only when information about this was sought. Legal action should be taken against those who do so. Indian Administrator of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation – Judge (Retd) SP Garg said, “The Federation has not approved any team. We have no information about any Kabaddi team going to Pakistan.”
