ICC launches corruption investigation in Qatar T-10 league

Dubai: npnews24 Online – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed to launch an investigation into corruption in the Qatar T-10 league. A year ago, the ICC-accredited league took part in many players from South Africa, India and Pakistan. The Qatar T-10 league began on December 7 and ended on Monday.

The ICC said in a statement that the ICC’s anti-corruption unit was closely monitoring the league with the organizers.

ICC Integrity GM Alex Marshall said, “Based on the information provided by the organizers, the ICC gave its approval to the league 12 months in advance. However, just before the tournament, changes in its team owners and organizers sounded alarm bells. We had arranged additional investigation for this. ”
He said, “We found that many well-known bookies in this league were present during the league in Qatar and they did it in a planned manner. For this reason, the ICC ACU team had to start a new investigation. ”
