How 255 km of Road Became the Root Cause of Dispute Between India & China?

New Delhi : In a violent clash between Indian soldiers and Chinese soldiers on LAC in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh, where 20 soldiers of India were martyred, 43 Chinese soldiers were reported missing. There is a possibility of increasing casualties. Many soldiers are reported missing. At the same time, the Indian government is not in the mood to leave China easily.

Actually it is necessary to understand what is the root of this dispute. After all, what happened that there was a scuffle between China and Indian soldiers and there was a bloody clash? Actually, this whole issue is related to the 255 km long road in Eastern Ladakh. The name of this road is Darbuk Shyok Daulat Beg Oldie Sector Road. The road runs from Darbuk of Ladakh to Daulat Beg Oldie sector of North-most Corner in Ladakh. The construction of this road was completed only last year. But it was challenging work due to the hilly area, it has taken us twenty years to build this road.

It is quite a strategic road for us according to the security of the country. Since the construction of this road, China has been repeatedly trying to infiltrate by crossing the LAC, because this road is absolutely parallel to the ‘Line of Actual Control’. Through this road, the Indian Army’s access to the Tibet Xinjiang Highway becomes possible. India launched its C-130 J Super Hercules on the airstrip of this sector seven years ago in Daulat Beg Oldie sector. This is why China is upset and China started jamming its troops at Patrolling Point 14 of Galvan Area, a strategic point on the same road.

On 5 May, China tried to infiltrate different sectors from Naku La in Sikkim to Eastern Ladakh. He went ahead of his checkpoints at the LAC and set up tents in the Galvan area. Military trucks were brought and soldiers came in mud trucks. Along with this, the Chinese Army personnel also came in front of the Indian Army near Pangong Lake in Ladakh. The face-off in Naku La, Sikkim decreased but the stalemate continued in the Galwan Valley. Especially at Petrol Point 14, the Chinese Army came forward crossing its petrol post.

According to the information, China gathered its 10,000 soldiers here, but this time India also responded to China in his language. A mirror deployment of the soldiers was done, that is, as many Chinese soldiers were there, Indian soldiers also gathered with the same amount of equipment. Now the face-off situation has intensified. After this, China had to come to the negotiating table and there was a meeting of the commander level, diplomatic negotiations started. After this, the Chinese Army had also retreated two and a half kilometers from Petrol Point 14, 15 and 17 and China had to go further back under the Disengagement Plan.

But on Monday, the Chinese Army personnel once again came towards Petrol Point 14 with a full platoon with iron rods, barbed wire. They tied spikes on the rods and attacked. When our soldiers stopped them, then a scuffle started which turned into a violent skirmish.
