Health ministry advisory : No biscuits, cookies with chai

NPnews24 online : The ubiquitous snacks offered in almost every official meeting like Biscuit and cookies with chai are on their way out, at least inside Health Ministry, which is replacing with healthier alternatives such as dates and roasted chana.

In a step toward healthy eating, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has now sent out an advisory to its entire department asking not to serve cookies, biscuit and other fast food during official meetings.

Circular dated June 19, issued by Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, suggests replacing unhealthy fast food with healthier snacks includes almonds, walnut, dates and roasted chana.

Official from the ministry are happy with the movie, and all welcome the move. Fast food affects living in multiple ways involving directly or indirectly with the health issues. It causes obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure.

The Ministry circular stressed on ‘healthy eating’ and said are only healthy snacks such as ‘Lobiya channa, Khajor, Bhuna Channa, Badam and Akhrot’ will be served at official meetings of the department.
