Good News! ‘Steroids’ Can Be The Ray Of Hope For Patients With Severe COVID-19, WHO Releases New Advisory

New Delhi : Can cheap and easily available Steroids save the life of a Coronavirus patient? This has been revealed in an international clinical trial. According to the report, cheap and easily available steroid medicines can help save seriously ill patients from COVID-19. Based on the evidence, the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a new advisory. Accordingly, steroids can be used to treat critically ill patients due to corona, but not for patients with early symptoms.

Dr. Howard C. Boucher, Editor-in-Chief of JAMA, said that steroids are very helpful to save patients struggling between life and death due to corona infection. He said that it can be used for treatment against corona worldwide. The Remediver was being used for seriously ill patients till now.

The WHO said three types of trials have been conducted at seven different locations on 1700 patients using steroid drugs. Trial results have revealed that the use of steroid medication has reduced the risk of death of corona patients. Steroids such as dexamethasone, hydrocortisone, and methylprednisolone are often used by doctors to increase a patient’s body’s immunity, reduce inflammation and pain.

This research suggests that steroids help save the lives of very sick COVID-19 patients. Professor Gordon, Chair in Anesthesia and Critical Care at Imperial College London, said “At the beginning of the year, it seemed almost hopeless at times, knowing that we had no specific treatment.
