Former Pakistani cricketer approaches Umar Akmal for match-fixing

NPnews24 online: Pakistan middle-order batsman, Umar Akmal has reported that a match-fixing offer was made to him in the ongoing Global T20 Canada 2019. The right handler claimed that a former Pakistani cricketer approached him with a match-fixing offer and the 29-year-old brought the matter in front of International Cricket Council (ICC)’s Anti- Corruption Unit (ACU).

Akmal is currently representing Winnipeg Hawks in the second edition of the T20 tournament in Canada.
The matter was brought forward to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), they clearly stated that they have nothing to do with the T20 tournament. “Canada is handling the Global T20 league’s administration.

Pakistan Cricket Board has nothing to do with it, “a PCB Spokesperson stated. Akmal has so far featured in only three games for the Hawks. The middle-order batsman is trying hard to cement a place in the national side and has scores of 12, 49 and nine in the limited chances in Global T20 Canada 2019.
